| The name Yorba dates as far back as 1769 when Jose Yorba was part of a Spanish expedition exploring the area now known as Orange County. In 1809, Jose Yorba petitioned the King of Spain for a land grant and was awarded 62,000 acres which came to be known as Rancho Santiago de Santa Ana. Linda means beautiful in Spanish.
Yorba Linda, the "land of gracious living," is home to the Richard Nixon Library and Birth Place. Its eastern part is a planned community development project with East Lake at its center. Annual events in the city are the Taste of Yorba Linda; the summer Street Fair; the Old-Fashion Main Street Christmas; and the Fiesta Day Parade and Showcase of Businesses, in October. The city covers 18 square miles and has over 18,500 housing units. Population is approximately 57,400, Median income $67,900, Median home value $324,800, People per household 3.2.
Yorba Linda boasts avocado and citrus production, as well as picturesque ranch properties. This quaint community retains a rural atmosphere in the midst of rapid expansion. Downtown Yorba Linda ? Main Street ? offers quaint antique shops, restaurants, a farmers market and a library.
The city is extremely supportive of its horse trail system. There is an equestrian center and direct access to Chino Hills State Park, which provides hundreds of miles of horse trails.
Plans for new home developments are in the works in the northwest part of Yorba Linda, with 2,100 homes and a public golf course.
